Our history
BTR was founded by Lena Johansson in Stockholm in 1989. What started as a small accounting firm quickly grew and BTR expanded its services by adding payroll management in the 90’s, and later on by launching Employer of Record services in 2012 - to help support its evergrowing foreign clientele of international companies looking to hire in the Nordic region. This forward-thinking approach helped position BTR as a trusted local partner for both international and local businesses. As the demand for Nordic expertise grew, BTR started two more offices, one in Copenhagen & one in Helsinki.
When Lena passed away in 2022 her daughter, Elise Bredenberg, took over the company. In 2023, BTR made the strategic decision to sell its payroll division to one of the largest global payroll providers, ADP. This allowed BTR to focus fully on what it does best: helping international clients navigate the Nordic market as well as supporting local companies with financial services and the hiring of foreign talent.
